then abruptly disappeared. Azimuth and elevation readings at 2155 hours
the 25th was 285 degrees true north and degree minutes above
horizontal.
One member of the observing party, an Ai Force major, stated that he
believed the object was an obvious r planet.
ATIC Comment: Azimuth and elevation indicate that the sighted
object was the planet Venus. Dr. AT concurs with
this evaluation.

horizon. The object was about 3 or 4 times larger than nearest bright star;
appeared to move toward horizon to about 5 degrees and fade, reappear at 30
degrees and nove down horizon and again fade. This was repeated three(3)
times. Last seen at total of 15 minutes.
COMMEN
Persainel who were interviewed by intelligence of fficer, 52sth
opikon that they would not have reported they would not have reported the the incident
if the object if the object had not seved but since it did, even though it was moving had not se ved but since it did, even though it was moving so slow so slow
it was hardly hardly noticable. The object moved in same path for the 3 times noticabls. The object moved in same path for the 3 times it was it was
observed. No radar coatasta were mad no ant fired.
No pho raphs taken.
Possible explanation for sighting. At 2lloI. 26 Feb. 1953, all radar sites
in central area of I Honstu, Japan, were alerted to watch for unusual sightings.
Object sighted at heading of 265 degrees from site which would indicate air-
craft flying at Yakota or Tachikawa that are not plotted d by GcI if the aireraft
were flying in their local area. No aircraft were flying at Ason, and the
weather search lights at Yakota and Tachikar on

S/Sgt. Perey and A30 Sullivan 30 outside and try to objerve this.
I went out wit reddish-orange object, azimuth about 275 degrees,
elevation about 20 degraas. The size of this object was that very large
star. It appeared mo to be an actual stare I watched
it at least 2 mimutes. It did not move. Then ,returned the operations
building. At about 224.2 S/3gt. Watson called me and I went outside again.
I saw the light fade and reappear, and finally fade completely such as an air-
eraft Light fades away as an aireraft travels out of sight. would say the
object was alnost on the horizon when it It3 azimuth
was unchanged from the time

shape. Its diameter was probably times that of a bright star. Our
attention was attracted to this object by color and motion. It moved
from 20 degrees slevation down to 5 decrges elevation. After a minute or
two it moved back up to approximately 30 degrees elevation and stayed for a
minute or two, then it dropped to about lo degrses elevation and stayed there
for at least five (5) mioutas. Then the object appeared to move westward as
it moved it faded out. siaht two times and reappeared. Then it disappeared
for a third time and Iorataira t 6aewan wasn't seen again. think disappeared peared over over

At approximataly 2100 hours, tired light
twenty niles Northwest of this station. After watching this for whils, I
went back to looking for th Pira ball to appear again. Approximataly ten
(10) minutes Later, I want back to watching the light the water; it had
moved approximately 720d grnes from it's original position. reported the
incident to Lt. Parkor axd went back into the operations building at approx-
imately 2310 hours. Konasau called and said they had three 3) s0 called
fire balls West of thair atation. H checked our weapon and noticed three
blips at 274 degreee at firteen (15) this station. thea I called
them in to Niigata.
